The Feuerle Collection is pleased to invite you to a special screening of Prélude to Mountain Ghost, a performance film directed by Wai Kung. Capturing the profound synergy between dancer, performer, and choreographer Po-nien Wang, and tea practitioner and facilitator Lin Wang, the film unfolds as a poetic dialogue between movement, ritual, and cinematic expression.

The screening will take place on February 14, 2025, at 6 pm, in the intimate setting of The Feuerle Collection Silk Room.

Inspired by The Mountain Spirit, a poem from Nine Songs by Qu Yuan (343–278 B.C.), Prélude to Mountain Ghost explores themes of love, beauty, identity, and transcendence. Set against the evocative backdrop of The Feuerle Collection, framed by Imperial Chinese furniture and contemporary photographic works, the film dissolves the boundaries between past and present, body and space, movement and stillness.

Originally performed at The Feuerle Collection from October to December 2024 as part of its institutional performance program dedicated to Berlin-based performance artists, Prélude to Mountain Ghost has been documented and reinterpreted in a filmic key by Wai Kung, who brings a distinct artistic meta-perspective to Po-nien Wang’s piece.

This screening is part of The Feuerle Collection’s program within its partnership with the Berlinale 2025 and its ongoing commitment to supporting young artists from the Chinese-speaking world, particularly those who, like Wai Kung (Hong Kong, based in Berlin), Po-nien Wang (Taiwan, based in Berlin), and Lin Wang (China, based in Berlin), navigate their practice in a global and interdisciplinary context. Their work embodies a rare synthesis of tradition and experimentation, where dance, tea, and film converge into a multisensory experience of sensuality and love.

Wai Kung is a filmmaker and film curator with deep roots in Chinese culture. Her work explores diverse narratives and engages with socio-political themes, blending visual storytelling with cultural exploration. Through her thoughtful curatorial practices and creative filmmaking, she crafts thought-provoking experiences that foster meaningful cultural exchanges and advance the cinematic landscape.
